Counselors’ Corner

The weather turned cool this morning, so I think fall is officially upon us. I’m looking forward to the Holidays in the next few months and hope some of my kids will get to come for Christmas this year. Rose, Sunny, and Rock are all in North Carolina now. I’ve been slowly but surely catching up with some housework since finishing school, and hope to get a head start on the holiday preparations this year. I’m enjoying having the early part of my days at home with Selah and Joey, and then we all go to the Boys and Girls Club together at about 3:00. Joey is finishing up second grade and about to move on into 3rd grade with his homeschooling, and Selah is finishing up fourth grade and will move on into 5th soon. I really believe homeschooling is the better option for Christian children these days, with all the things they “learn” in public schools. The National Education Association is pushing hard for gay rights and free access to abortion for high-schoolers, even without parental knowledge or consent. It’s only a matter of time before these issues are prevalent in all public schools. Some have called for a mass exodus of Christians out of the public schools, and I’m not so sure that’s a bad idea. I realize it would be hard for most families to pull that off, but sometimes sacrifice is what God calls us to do. At the very least we need to be on our toes, and not let the NEA ruin our local public schools. We need to be praying for local officials to stand against the ungodly things others are trying to push on us. I may have to put Selah and Joey back in public school soon, so I want them to have a decent school to go to when that time comes.

I still need to find more substantial work, though I love the job I am at. I just need more hours and more pay to make ends meet. The B.G.C. has still not hired a new director, though I believe they had a couple of folks in mind. They said I needed to have at least a year’s experience, in order to qualify for the job. Please continue to pray that God will open up a door for me that no one can close. In the mean time, I’m using my creative talents at the Club in the Arts and Crafts room, and will be starting the SMART Girls program with the girls today. This is a good program that teaches sexual abstinence among other things to young girls through the teen years. I love this part of my job, as it entails some counseling type work and is an area that I am passionate about. Please pray for me as I try to make an impact on this group of girls for the better. Selah will be in this group, as she is 11 years old now. I look forward to introducing my own child as well as others’ children to these concepts. I’m feeling a bit under the weather today, though, so pray that what ever it is, it doesn’t last long, as I can’t afford to miss any work. Several strains of the flu are going around and someone threw up in my classroom yesterday. I hope I can beat this one off with vitamin C, which is my first line of defense.

I wrote this several days ago and have now missed 3 days of work with what I presume is a full fledge bout of the flu. I have had excruciating headaches for several days now and have barely been able to get out of bed for the body aches. I feel like I’m about to die, and the way I feel, I almost wish the Lord would call me home. I’ve been alternating between Tylenol and ibuprofen, along with vitamin C, but it has helped very little. I pray no one else gets this as bad as I have. I guess I’m just getting old and things seem to hit me harder now when I do get sick. Pray that I get over this soon, as I am still experiencing the worst of symptoms, fever, chills, body aches, and head aches. I am lying in bed as I type this and don’t even know that I have the strength to walk over to mama’s and email it tomorrow. In any case I pray that God will lay it on someone’s heart to pray for my healing, whether this get’s sent or not. Jonnie and Merry have had this stuff too, and it’s been rough on them as well. They missed several days of school but Jonnie is now back, and Merry will go back Monday.

As I lay here contemplating all this and feeling as if death is on my doorstep, I think back to when I was 30 and had a dream that made me believe I was going to die. Rocky implored me to pray that God would give me 15 more years as God allowed a king in the Bible 15 more years. I never felt compelled to pray that prayer, but I believe Rocky may have. In any case, if this flu bug should take me home to be with my Lord, know that I love all of you and did my very best to serve the Lord, even as flawed as I am. I truly hope though that this is just a passing bug that I will soon be over and back to my old self again, and that God will now allow me a few more years to serve in some small way. Yahweh, the commandment of Your love is with me in the daytime, and in the night Your song will be with me, and my prayer to the God of my life. I’ll say to God, my rock, “Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of my enemy’s oppression of me?” As if I had a blade in my body, my enemies accuse me, saying daily to me, “Where is your God?” Why are you depressed, oh my soul? And why are you troubled within me? Hope in God: for I’ll yet praise You, who are the health of my countenance, and my God.



* I survived the flu bout and drug myself back to work today, but am still having severe shooting pains in my head. Please continue to pray for my complete healing. God Bless!

Notes and Prayer Requests

• Tommy has a new girl friend, Amanda, who is leaving for basic training for the ROTC on October 5, so please pray for her.

• Rock’s trying to get in a nursing school in North Carolina. Pray that God will direct him in his endeavors, as well.

• My daughter Sunny has experienced some personal setbacks, but is trying to finish up her education as well. Pray for strength of mind, body, and spirit!

• Rose has just gotten a promotion and raise at Duke University, where she is in grad school. She is one of the top researchers in her area of work now.

• I have published all of my paraphrases on the Triond website. The links are listed below in several Daily Bible Reading Plans, if anyone wants to check them out. • I would appreciate if you’d let me know of grammar, punctuation, and other mistakes I may have made. My goal is to make the paraphrase as simple and clear as possible. I know they still need much work, as they are drafts of a work in progress. I don’t know of any other Bible that uses the Name of Yahweh (I am in Hebrew), so I have worked hard to get it right. Please pray that God helps me in this work, and let me know of any mistakes you find. Thank all of you who are praying for me on this.

Daily Bible Reading Plans for the New Word, The Old Sayings, and The Old Hymns



The New Word, The Old Sayings and The Old Hymns is a unique feminist approach to a gender-neutral paraphrase of the Holy Bible, which uses the true name of Yahweh God and of Yeshua, the Christ, rather than the traditional man made form of Jehovah. I attempted this several year project out of a strong desire to make known the true name of Yahweh God and to help complete the great commission of Jesus Christ. It is the first Bible to my knowledge that uses the Name of God in its proper form, which had fallen out of use because of the Hebraic tradition to not say it at all by replacing it with Lord (Adoni) or God (Elohim), for fear of using it in vain. Yahweh, in the Hebrew, simply means I AM. Yahweh God is the great I AM!

This paraphrase is a working draft, and these are the published excerpts in the completed series. This version is particularly intended to reach an audience on the internet, that may not just go pick up a Bible and read it. I would like to encourage Christians and non-Christians alike to read through them using one of the suggested reading plans below and comment on them, whether you have a critique, editing correction, or praise. I am particularly looking for clarity of ideas, and simplicity for a younger or less educated audiences, which may have trouble reading and understanding some of the other more traditional versions. Archaic language, has been replaced by more modern readings of the ideas presented in the KJV. If you find a section that is still somewhat difficult to read, or understand, please let me know your thoughts on it. I would like to make all the corrections necessary before attempting further publication and dissemination. I am asking for the Triond community and other readers to help me find any significant errors, and check for readability.
