Go Fish Little Fishers Programs

Go Fish Little Fishers Programs

The summer camp program for child victims will be a 3 day summer camping experience intended for initiating the healing process in victims of childhood sexual abuse and domestic violence. It is the hope and goal of Go Fish Ministries that the children will come to understand that they are not at fault for the offenses, and that they are not alone in their experiences. The camp ministry is based on the words of Christ in John 8:32, “The truth will make you free.” The secret nature of childhood sexual abuse is often the very thing that perpetuates that abuse. Children will be allowed the opportunity to tell their “secret” if they so choose, but it is never to be coerced from them. Children may be accompanied by an adult guardian, which is highly recommended due to the emotional nature of the camp experience. It will include Bible study and reflection, prayer, discussions on sexual and domestic abuses and assaults, times of confession and sharing, etc. It is based on several Bible verses and principles, which tells us to “confess our faults one to another and pray for one another that you may be healed”, to “comfort others with the comfort we have been comforted with of God,” and the words of Christ that states “the truth will make you free”. When the darkness of sin is brought into the light it has no power over its victims. The light of Christ overcomes the darkness of this world. Scholarships in increments of $25-$100 from the Joshua Mikel Memorial Fund will be available for the Go Fish Little Fishers camp program for child victims depending on availability of funds. *It must be clearly understood by all interested participants that we are not licensed professional counselors, but simply Christian victims comforting other Christian victims. Some of us have degrees in Counseling and education, and others are simply lay helpers.
