Go Fish Ministries Mission Statement:
The vision and mission of Go Fish Ministries, Inc. is to help victims of sexual and domestic violence through their healing process and to encourage and help others in need, whether physically, emotionally, or spiritually within the context of a Christian Environment.
Go Fish Ministries is a nonprofit, Evangelical Christian based, seven pronged umbrella ministry, which covers several areas of ministry in conjunction with one another. Its primary purpose is to help in the healing process victims of violence and to encourage and help others in need. Go Fish Ministries is divided into seven primary areas of ministry: 1Go Fish Books, 2the Attic Swap program, 3the Joshua Mikel Memorial Fund, 4the Go Fish Safe Haven program, 5the JAIL Birds program, 6Go Fish Little Fishers Programs, and 7 Go Fish Church. Go Fish Ministries, Inc. sponsors the Joshua Mikel Memorial Fund for victims of sexual abuse and assault and the Go Fish Safe Haven Ministry for victims of domestic violence through the proceeds generated from Go Fish Books, along with the proceeds from the Attic Swap program and donations from the public. It is the vision of Go fish Ministries to sponsor in the near future events such as women’s retreats for personal recovery and group support, as well as children’s summer camps for victims of violence, such as childhood sexual abuse survivors and domestic violence survivors. The Children’s Ministry effort will be provided under the programs of the Go Fish Little Fishers Programs Division of Go Fish Ministries. Another program we would like to implement in the future is the JAIL Birds Program (Jesus Abundantly Imparting Liberty), which will seek to minister to those who have been incarcerated and need similar services as the Go Fish Safe Haven Program Provides. This program will minister both in and out of jail facilities, providing bibles and other literature for them. Go Fish Church is a Christian organization, which is primarily concerned with the spiritual growth of women and children who may feel uncomfortable, in a traditionally masculine run church organization. We are concerned with women’s issues as related to our Christian faith and the free exercise thereof, and have a particular interest in the Spiritual healing of those who have been victimized by violence. The Executors of Go Fish Ministries, along with “serving hands” volunteers will also hold mini seminars, speaking to Christian ladies groups, civic groups, the incarcerated, and youth groups on topics such as childhood sexual abuse, violent sexual assault, domestic violence, and a number of other topics on request. Speakers are knowledgeable of the topics through life experiences and personal study on the subjects. Our credentials are primarily that of being Christian Women desiring the betterment of women and children in our society. It must be clearly understood by all interested participants that we are not licensed professional counselors, but simply Christian victims comforting other Christian victims. Some of us have degrees in counseling and education, and others are simply lay volunteers.
