The Virgin Birth
and the
Resurrection of the Dead?
What’s not to believe?
Mama Heartfilled

At the time of the birth and death of Jesus Christ, the virgin birth and the resurrection seemed to some quite unbelievable, and even to those who believed, a leap of great faith. Even now, in the face of our modern technology, people refuse to believe in the Christian faith due to these improbabilities. But now, in the year 2007, the virgin birth is not so unbelievable with our modern technology of artificial insemination and other techniques that would make even a virgin birth now possible. Evening cloning, without the male factor, is now a distinct possibility in the near future. If humanity now has the knowledge to do these kinds of things, what makes us think that the God who created us, didn’t first have that miraculous knowledge. How can we not believe that God, in perfect knowledge of the created order, could in fact make a “clone” of God, using Mary’s human egg cell and implanting that clone of God into the virgin Mary to be born of humanity in the image of both God and humanity.
And how, in this day and time and with our modern technology of artificial resuscitation and life support, can we not believe it would be possible for God to raise someone from the dead, even then. There are many modern day reports of those who have died and come back to life, sometimes with the help of modern interventions, and sometimes without any human intervention, and even of those who have been in comas for years, waking up to new life. Everything that was once believed impossible according to the scientific knowledge of the time, is now or soon will be possible according to the scientific knowledge of our time.
And what about the other miracles of the Bible? Are they still not believable? Could the Red Sea have been parted by a strong wind created by supernatural forces, or could an extraterrestrial craft of some sort have the power to do this? Could the strong wind that brought the children of Israel birds to eat have been a wind created by these supernatural forces as well. Is it possible that the others “out there” that we’ve been speculating about for many years now may be God and the angels? Jesus said, “I have other sheep, which you don’t know about.” What about the descriptions of the glory of God in Chapters one and ten in the book of Ezekiel? Could this not be a sort of alien craft, with a throne or control seat lifting off and coming back to the main craft again? And what about the descriptions of God coming in a whirlwind, and coming down in the thick cloud? Could these not be some sort of cloaking device for a craft, which has been described in the Bible as a flying chariot. God doesn’t need technology, but could it be designed and used by God? The ancient descriptions of God were necessarily limited by the vocabulary of the time, so look beyond those limitations and see the possibilities.
And what about Satan, who is a real entity, and the enemy of God, and who often attempts to mimic God in ways that would make people believe him to be God. Satan is revealed in the Bible to be “the ruler of the air.” With multiple reports of alien abductions, and people who believe they were the victims of aliens studying their reproductive processes, could this not be Satan and the demons attempting to incarnate a human being? If you believe this to be a possibility, can you not also believe that Satan, who is known to “appear as an angel of light”, will try to mimic the incarnation of Christ with his own incarnation of the antichrist. Would a clone of Satan in human form be possible? Have you ever read about “the beast and his image” in the Revelation? Is this possible or even still, believable? Could it be that these UFO encounters, some friendly and some not so friendly, are the angels and demons of the Bible, just described in different words? Though I am speculating on what I believe is possibly true, what you believe is possible or impossible, true and not true, is only for you to decide.
I propose that the virgin birth and the resurrection are not only possible, and probable in the near future, but believable with the modern technologies of this time. If you are not a Christian because you believe these things to be impossible, I simply ask you to take another look at the facts of modern technology, and our current state of awareness, and ask yourself if you still believe the virgin birth and the resurrection of Jesus Christ to be impossible by today’s standards of modern technology. If you still believe it to be impossible, then that is your choice, and you will have to take responsibility for that choice. But if there is even a small change of heart in you, that you may believe it to be possible for a great and mighty Creator to send someone in God’s image, who was fully God and fully human into the world to save humanity from the results of their own and others sinful behaviors, then I know you will follow your instincts and accept that knowledge as the truth. According to I John 2:23, those who don’t accept Jesus Christ, who emanated from God, as their Savior, don’t accept the God who sent the Savior to us either. And those who accept Jesus as the Christ, accept God also. So what in the name of God do you believe? The possibilities in the Scriptures are endless. Read the Word, and believe! To believe or not to believe! Hmmm? That is the question.

Awake!

Awake and do rightful acts, for some of us do not have an understanding of God. I tell you this to your shame! (I Corinthians 15:34) Awake, you who sleep, arise from the deadness of sin, and Christ will enlighten your spirit. See that you walk carefully, not foolishly, but wisely, valuing the time because the days are evil (Ephesians 5:14-16). It is high time to awake out of sleep: for now our salvation is nearer than when we once believed it was. The night is over and the day is here: let us throw off the cover of darkness and let us put on the clothing of light. Let us walk honestly as in the day, not in fighting and intoxication, not in sensuality and loose living, not in conflict and rivalry, but put on the Lord Jesus Christ and don’t allow your physical desires to gratify its lusts (Rom 13:11-14).

About the Author

Kimberly Marie Hartfield is a mother of eight children and a Masters Level student at William Carey College in Hattiesburg, MS. She received her B.S. degree in 2004. She has studied primarily in the areas of Psychology, with minors in Religion and English. Kim has personally experienced the healing hand of God in facing many of the issues discussed in this series of tracts. God has brought her through diverse tribulations during the course of her lifetime, including being a victim of sexual, physical, and mental abuse, a drunk driving accident, spousal pornography addiction, adultery, divorce, remarriage, brief incarceration, and having experienced multiple miscarriages and various other trials. Through God’s merciful forgiveness of her own sins and God’s grace given to her to forgive those who have been her stumbling block, she has overcome these adversities. She believes that God has blessed her with the ability to confront and relate these issues to the Christian community in the writing of these tracts. Kim has been called to the homeland mission field of North America and hopes to be able to use these tracts as a tool for the ministry of witnessing to the grace of God and comforting His people with the truth of His mercy. She claims II Corinthians 3 & 4 as her calling, which states: “Blessed be God, the Origin of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Origin of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our troubles, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, by the comfort we ourselves have been comforted by God.” As she herself has received the gift of God’s healing, she hopes to be able to bring the peace beyond understanding to others in God’s Kingdom with the message of God’s mercy and grace. Kim’s love for the Sovereign of her life, Jesus Christ, along with her passion for writing has drawn her to explore these commonly experienced crisis issues from the perspective of her own experience in the hope that she may bring an empathetic and compassionate insight to God’s people. The views expressed in this series of tracts are strictly her own insights acquired from personal experience and diligent study of the related topics and God’s word concerning them. Though she is an ordained minister, her views should not be considered authoritative. She believes that the Christian community’s ultimate authority is the guidance of the human heart by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.
